Two weeks ago, we went to Berlin in bus at
our penfriend's home. When we arrived, friday afternoon, after
20 hours of
journey, we were very tired because we slept
approximately 2 hours..... My penfriend lived in the old French
district after the World War II : Tegel. Tegel is
beautiful and it is very different from the center of Berlin
because there are lot of houses
and just a few buildings. It's a district very quiet
with a beautiful lake, some rich houses, pavilions and
little garden
for people who don't have garden. We spent the weekend in our
family to discover them a little more. Me , I went to the
fun fair with my penfriend and
we went in the city with french people and others penfriend. During
all the week, we visited lot of monuments like the Chancellery (where Angela
Merkel have meeting,...) ,
Sans Souci's
castle (where King Alexander Ier lived)
, Cecilienhof's castle
(where there were Potsdam Agreement)
, Ravensbruck's concentration
camps (where resistant women were locked and they had to
work very hard) ,
Check-Point
Charlie (which was the crossing point between the FRG
: Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR : German Democratic
Republic), the Church of Remembrance,
the Brandebourg
Gate, the Reichstag
..... Berlin is a big and busy city with lot of tall builgings
which are headquarters of companies but I loved this atmosphere.
Sometimes, it was like in New York..
My family was very nice although Julie, my penfriend didn't talk
a lot with me.The mother, Uta, made me discover some aspects of
Berlin like the Tegel's lake,
Potsdammer platz with its big
dome ... I even saw the preview of a
film (Lucky Ones) with the red carpet, the reporters, the
body guards.. but not the stars !!!! Uta talked me all the time and
she was very very nice and kind with me.
In Berlin I ate normally
because the mother has ever lived in France. For instance, we ate
salad, meat, pasta ... Just, one day, the evening, we ate
wafer potatoes with, on this wafer,
applesauce !!! I was good but a little strange. Some French
perople went everyday to Mac Do's and they ate lots of
hamburgers, pizza, chips... Not very good for the health !!!
I can't told you all the details of this amazing and wonderful trip because it will take
hours. I know everyone loved Berlin and we lived a super experience
with a a great environment.
